Capitol Hair and Makeup With Accallia Highwind

So, for the longest time, Jayne and I have been giving our Barbie dolls makeovers, and well... they're really weird. So I was thinking, that most of our dolls (except for the "sacred" ones, like Jayne's super expensive Aphrodite doll, and my Twilight doll. Shut up, she's really pretty.) would fit in great in the Capitol.

So here is my photo shoot, complete with commentary from... err... uh... Accallia Highwind?Yeah, that sounds Capitol-y. And this entire post will be in bubblegum pink with highlighter yellow helvetica.

This stunning look is absolutely perfect for attending the opening ceremony of the Games, or just partying with your cadre of friends. The deep purple eyeshadow and lips, really set off the gorgeous gradation in her hair.

A bit less formal look, perhaps more practical for when you're out shopping for new wigs?

Blues and greens are very in right now! Somebody's got money on District Four this year!

More blue, but a very different look. The pink lips are a nice contrasting element.

Look at that hair! This whole look is very minimalistic. The dots are very simple, but they still say, "I know what my style is."
I think I'm in love with the reversed eyeshadow going on here.

Luxurious purple hair goes with the obviously simplistic makeup here. The false scar is a nice touch for the upcoming games.

Women aren't the only ones who can enjoy tattoos!

Bright brassy pink is very chic.

This look is very much inspired by the games, but the gold lipstick reminds you that sheis a Capitol girl after all!
The subtle pink stripe is one of my favorite pieces of this outfit. I absolutely adore the little swirls by her eyes. So fun!

The gold eyeliner is very nice here- somebody's attention was caught by the outstanding Cinna, one of last year's victorious District Twelve's stylists.

So, I hope you enjoyed this... unusual post, and may the odds be ever in you favor.

Dr. Milton R. Spradtwinkler and the Llamacorn

Hello friends, my name is Katherine Spradtwinkler-Hessenfroff.
In light of a recent discovery in the field of Fantastical Biology by my colleagues, Dr. Naddie Boyne and Professor Me J.M Potato on the llamacorn, I thought I might share with you a photograph taken by my great grandfather, Dr. Milton R.  Spradtwinkler.

A great believer in the llamacorn, dear Doctor Milton had been the laughingstock of the fantastical biology community, who were all trying to track the exceedingly rare migration of a flock of Useful Congresspeople, and politely tried to have my great grandfather's membership to the League of Fantastical Biologists revoked.
Nevertheless, Dr. Milton R. Spradtwinkler  continued his search, and finally in 1864, he glimpsed the creature that had eluded him for so very long.
He observed the llamacorn for several minutes before taking this picture.

Lama Unicornica. Photograph by Milton R. Spradtwinkler

From examining his field journals I can see how excited he was about his find.
"I finally found my Lama Unicornica! That will show Leopold Fitzpatrick at the League of Fantastical Biologists, and all those other stuck up charlatans he keeps in his company! Who's a deluded lunatic now Fitzpatrick?!"
Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick and the other "charlatans" accused Dr. Spradtwinkler of photoshopping the photograph, to which Spradtwinkler called Fitzpatrick "an ugly footed anachronism," and eventually, the entire League was involved in a bloody knife fight in a public library, which resulted in the deaths of three central members of the League, as well as very many heated arguments on the most effective way to bait a Singing Dragon (The wide majority agreed on lemon balloons).
Those who survived the ordeal, had their science licenses revoked by Charles Darwin.

Thank you very much to Katherine Spradtwinkler-Hessenfroff for her insightful history on llamacorns, and thanks also to Naddie Boyne and Me J.M Potato for they brilliant photographs of the Lama Unicornica, which I recently had the pleasure of seeing on miss Boyne's blog, and is also way cooler than the one taken by Dr. Milton R. Spradtwinkler. And extra thanks to Wikipedia for keeping knowing when Darwin died.

Safeway.

So yesterday, my mom was sick, and Jayne was depressed. I was neither, and we needed milk, mac and cheese and ice cream, and vanilla extract. Also Suburbia has lots of sidewalks, and a Safeway within walking distance.
So my mom gave me twenty bucks and I left.

The walk there was pretty uneventful (although I did get honked at and given a really creepy smile by a construction guy...) and then I got there.

This is where the weird started happening.

First I got the milk, and the milk we get looks like this: (my dad's lactose intolerant.)

So I picked up a thing of milk, and put it in the basket. Then I realized I got the one that has lactose, which looks like this:
This is not the right milk. So I tried putting it back on the shelf, but Safeway has one of those spring loaded shelves that make it really hard to put stuff back. And the milk was off the top shelf. Oops.
So I'm jumping and pushing on this milk, trying to put away this unwanted vitamin enriched milk, and this old lady who could have win a "really grumpy Betty White lookalike contest" just stares at me.

I can almost hear the "Stupid ass kids ruining our neighborhood" running through her brain.
Finally I got it back and grabbed the right one (It was by the soy milk), and ran to the ice cream isle.

I knew what Jayne wanted (Ben and Jerry's Whirled Peace) so I ran to the Ben and Jerry's section... and it was the only one they didn't have. And I 'm banging my head against the glass, when I remember, "I HAVE MY PHONE!!!!!"

So I called the house, and longer story shortish, I got her the Steven Colbert's Americone Dream.

Then I had to find the vanilla extract, and realized that I have no frickin' idea where vanilla extract is.
Crap.

So I ran around the whole store trying to find a helpful Safeway employee, and I finally found a nice guy named Jun in produce, who conveniently knew that extracts are in baking. I guess that makes sense...

So finally, I had everything!! Yay!

So I headed to the checkout, and the guy rang me up. And then I remembered that the Safeway is in Generica, not Suburbia. And in Generica, they charge ten cents for a bag.

And of course, Friendly Safeway Guy didn't tell me this. Thanks FSG.
And double of course, I had every stinkin' coin besides a dime. Crap again.

So finally I just give him a dollar, and while he was giving me my change, I found a dime in my wallet.
But I got the bag, and that was a small victory... except that it didn't have handles.

So I walked home hugging a freezing bag for maybe half a mile (but it still wasn't fun) in my high heels, because I had forgotten that their higher than my old ones.

I finally get home, and put away the perishables, and my mom asks,
"How was it?"

My Friends Are Awesome: Exhibit A

I should point out that Out of State is also a Girl Scout. She just lives in the same state as Potato.

(If you don't watch football, this is what I was talking about.)

13-15: Eject the Frog!

So I have these two wonderful friends, Edison, and Dragonchild*,  and every Wednesday, we play a game:

Any time you think of a funny quote you say it.
Some of the best and funniest are things that we've said, rather than things from books and movies, as was originally intended.

From left: Dragonchild, Edison, Me. (On the far left you can see Alison, who is seven I think.)

"You blew my mustache off!"

"Oh dear, Mom's in the root-beer!"

"My bubble! It came un-bubbled!"

"The heavens opened and gave them a shower, which they did not particularly need." (This one was cut from one of their NaNos.)

"Do you think you could use a high heel to break down a wall?"

"Dude, your browser's on the ceiling..."

"Oh, I'm failing miserably. How about you?"

"It means, 'Hi! I'm you!' in Finnish."

These guys are my boyzzzz. They're  totally awesome, and if I had brothers, I'd want them to be exactly like Edison and Dragonchild.

*Quite obviously not their real names.

Biology "Notes"

I haven't posted in a while, mainly because of school.
I've started taking biology this year, and it's really cool!
I really am not great at sitting still though, so i doodled on a piece of paper while i learned the difference between chromosomes, and chromatids...
It was a work of art.

...And the whole dang family starts laughing

We just got back from fancy dinner out, and I'm walking down the stairs to the basement, while talking to me sister and suddenly I scream a high pitched girly squeal of terror. I look again at what freaked me out and start laughing uproariously.
"I just scared myself!"
My sister walks over to see how. She looks down the stairs and shrieks. Then she starts laughing too.
Our dad comes to see what's happening, and just says, "Oh my god."
My mom calls out from across the hallway, "What's going on?"
"Come see for yourself!" My dad replies.
My mom looks down the stairs, and joins us in laughing.

What was so funny, you ask?

Well, here you go:

Have you ever used Cleverbot?? I love it!
Within this same conversation, I spent twenty minutes convincing it to marry me (it finally accepted), and then five more minutes telling it that i would not name our child Buddha.
We also conversed in french for a while...
(btw, Cleverbot's French grammar is HORRIBLE)
